残されていることが
分かりました。
It has been discovered that a large number of unpublished manuscripts of the last novel Chijo Seikatsusha by Akutagawa Prize-winning author Lee Hoe-sung, who passed away in January this year, have been left at his home.
朝鮮半島出身の両親のもとに現在のサハリンに生まれ、北海道で育った李恢成さんは、自身のルーツをもとに、分断された朝鮮半島の民族の歴史を背景にした作品の数々を手がけ、1972年に「砧をうつ女」で芥川賞を受賞しました。
Born to parents from the Korean Peninsula in present-day Sakhalin and raised in Hokkaido, Lee Hoe-sung has created numerous works based on his roots, set against the backdrop of the divided Korean Peninsulas ethnic history, and won the Akutagawa Prize in 1972 for Kinu wo Utsu Onna.
李さんは2000年から自身の半生をもとに、小説家の生涯を描く長編小説「地上生活者」を連載していましたが、2020年の第6部が生前に発表された李さんの最後の作品となっていました。
Since 2000, Mr. Li had been serializing a long novel titled Earthly Dweller, depicting the life of a novelist based on his own life. However, the sixth part in 2020 became the last work published during Mr. Lis lifetime.
遺族によりますと、李さんはその後も執筆を続けていたということで、第7部の原稿が都内の自宅に残されていることが分かりました。
According to the bereaved family, it was found that Mr. Li continued writing afterwards, and the manuscript for the seventh part remains at his home in Tokyo.
原稿は400字詰めの原稿用紙に800枚以上、合わせて16章に上り、50代を迎えた主人公がみずから創刊した文芸誌の発行に奮闘する姿や、北朝鮮に渡った親戚が政治犯として逮捕される苦難などが描かれているということです。
The manuscript consists of more than 800 pages of 400-character manuscript paper, totaling 16 chapters. It depicts the struggles of the protagonist, who has reached his 50s, as he strives to publish a literary magazine he founded, as well as the hardships faced when a relative who went to North Korea is arrested as a political prisoner.
また、原稿は整理しきれていないものの未完とみられ、遺族は何らかの形で公表を目指したいとしています。
In addition, although the manuscript appears to be unfinished and not fully organized, the bereaved family wishes to publish it in some form.
李恢成さんの長男の李潤午さんは「父は『地上生活者』について第7部で完結する自分の最後の長編小説で、何としても世に出したいと言っていた。
The eldest son of Lee Hoe-sung, Lee Yun-oh, said, My father said that The Earthly Life is his last long novel, which he intends to complete with the seventh part, and he absolutely wants to publish it.
ではあっても
何とか公表したい」と
話していました。
I was saying that I want to publish it somehow, even if its incomplete.
