アメリカやドミニカ共和国の現地メディアによりますと、ブランコさんは現地時間の8日にドミニカ共和国の首都、サントドミンゴのナイトクラブで屋根の崩落事故に巻き込まれ、亡くなったということです。

ABCテレビによりますと、この事故では少なくとも79人が死亡し、155人がけがをしているということで、大リーグ機構はブランコさんのほかにも、アストロズなどで通算59勝をあげたオクタビオ・ドーテルさんや、通算ホームラン464本のネルソン・クルーズさんのきょうだいで、ドミニカ共和国で州知事を務めるネルシー・クルーズさんも亡くなったと明らかにしています。
