In addition to inheriting and utilizing the lessons learned from the Kumamoto Earthquake, there are multiple active faults in the prefecture that are pointed out as high risk, and preparing for the next disaster is a challenge.
9年前の熊本地震では、同じ地域で2度、震度7の揺れを観測し、災害関連死を含めて熊本県と大分県であわせて278人が犠牲となり、熊本県内40の市町村で19万8000棟あまりが全半壊するなどしました。
9 years ago, during the Kumamoto earthquake, two tremors with a seismic intensity of 7 were observed in the same region, resulting in 278 casualties, including disaster-related deaths, in Kumamoto and Oita Prefectures. In Kumamoto Prefecture, over 198,000 buildings were either partially or completely destroyed across 40 municipalities.
県内では、これまでに被災した国道や橋、鉄道などの主要なインフラのほか、役場の庁舎などの復旧や建て替えはおおむね終了しました。
In the prefecture, the restoration and reconstruction of major infrastructure such as national roads, bridges, and railways, as well as government office buildings, have been mostly completed.
熊本地震で得られた教訓の継承や活用が進められていて、去年発生した能登半島地震では、住宅の被害調査や被災者の体調管理など、熊本地震の教訓を生かしたさまざまな支援が行われました。
Lessons learned from the Kumamoto earthquake are being passed on and utilized. In the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred last year, various support activities were carried out, such as damage assessment of houses and health management of victims, utilizing the lessons from the Kumamoto earthquake.
また、南海トラフ巨大地震が発生した場合、熊本県は支援する側になることが想定されていて、被災した自治体の要請を待たずに支援物資を届ける「プッシュ型支援」を行うための新たな備蓄拠点が益城町に整備される予定です。
Additionally, in the event of a massive Nankai Trough earthquake, Kumamoto Prefecture is expected to be on the supporting side, and a new stockpile base is planned to be established in Mashiki Town to carry out push-type support, delivering relief supplies without waiting for requests from affected municipalities.
その一方で、県内には大地震を引き起こすリスクが高いと指摘されている日奈久断層帯など複数の活断層があり、住宅の耐震化や避難所の生活環境の整備など次の災害に向けた備えが課題となっています。
On the other hand, within the prefecture, there are multiple active faults, such as the Hinagu Fault Zone, which is pointed out to have a high risk of causing a major earthquake, and preparing for the next disaster, such as seismic retrofitting of houses and improving the living environment of evacuation centers, is a challenge.
