Concluded salmon and trout fishing negotiations between Japan and Russia. Operation will start early next month.

The Fisheries Agency announced that the fishing negotiations between Japan and Russia over salmon and trout catches have been concluded.
The Japanese side is expected to start operations early next month.
According to the Fisheries Agency, the operating conditions for Japanese fishing vessels for salmon and trout drift net fishing in the exclusive economic zone of Japan have been set at 2050 tons, which is the same as the average year for salmon and trout.
The minimum amount of fishery cooperation fee to be paid to Russia will be reduced by 60 million yen from last year, and it will be decided according to the catch in the range of 200 million yen to 300 million yen.
The operation starts on April 10 every year, but this year negotiations did not start due to the influence of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and fishing was not possible.
As Japan imposed economic sanctions, an unusual agreement was reached.
