There are no young people to learn Japanese culture ”Ningyo Joruri Bunraku”
”Ningyo Joruri Bunraku” is a play that uses puppets to tell a story accompanied by shamisen music.
Started in Osaka during the Edo period
Many of the performers receive two years of training at the National Bunraku Theater in Osaka, where they learn how to move the puppets and how to play the shamisen.
Men under the age of 23 can take the training, and the training starts in April every year.
However, not a single person has received training this year.
This is the first time in 50 years since the training began.
Applications for the training are accepted until February every year, but we are still gathering people who want to take the training this year.
A person from the National Bunraku Theater said, ”I’m very sorry that there’s not a single person.
I want young people to know more about ’Ningyo Joruri Bunraku’.”
