Around 11 a.m. on the 6th, an upper-grade elementary school student drowned and died during a swimming class at a junior high school pool in Kochi City.
The pool at the municipal elementary school where the children attend was out of order and could not be used, so they borrowed a pool from a nearby junior high school to hold classes.
The water depth was approximately 130 cm.
At the time, three teachers were monitoring the accident, but they did not notice that the child had drowned.
