Japan’s new banknote uses Mitsumata from Nepal
The paper on the banknotes is made from the bark of a tree called mitsumata.
In the past, Mitsumata was produced in Japan, but now there are fewer of them.
For this reason, we import from Nepal etc.
In a warehouse in Kathmandu, Nepal, there is a lot of Mitsumata tree bark used for new Japanese banknotes.
A Nepalese person who saw the news about the banknotes said, ``I’m very happy that the Mitsumata that I worked so hard to make has become a banknote in Japan.
I want to touch the banknotes,” he said.
A person from a Japanese company that imports Mitsumata said, ``Nepalese Mitsumata is useful for the Japanese economy.
