札幌市によりますと、警察から「5月上旬、札幌市内で2人が死亡し、イヌサフランを間違って食べた可能性が高い」などと連絡がありました

According to Sapporo city, they got a report from the local police stating that ”within the first ten days of May, two people have died here in Sapporo city and there’s a high probability that these deaths occured because they mistakenly ate Inu saffron”.

市の保健所が詳しく調査したところ、いずれも自宅の家庭菜園でイヌサフランを栽培していたことなどから、山菜のギョウジャニンニクとよく似た有毒な植物、イヌサフランを間違って食べたことによる食中毒と断定しました

北海道では2015年から去年までにイヌサフランを原因とする食中毒で17人が症状を訴え、このうち7人が亡くなっていて、ほとんどが山菜採りのシーズンに集中しています
