Kihoku-cho, Mie A man in his 50s who collapsed on a wave-blocking block dies from drowning
A man in his 50s who had come to the beach in Kihoku Town, Mie Prefecture, was found collapsed on a wave-blocking block offshore and died.
The man’s cause of death was drowning, and police are investigating the circumstances.

Around 10:30 a.m. on the 20th, a family found a man lying on a wave-blocking block about 100 meters offshore on Koyamaura Beach in Kihoku Town, Mie Prefecture, and alerted the fire department through someone nearby.
The man was rescued by the fire department and taken to a hospital in neighboring Owase City, but he was pronounced dead approximately 40 minutes later.
The deceased was a 59-year-old self-employed man living in Yao City, Osaka, who had gone swimming with four friends and family.
The man’s cause of death was drowning, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
