On the 1st, thousands of farmers gathered in central Brussels, Belgium, to demonstrate against rising fuel and fertilizer prices, cheap imports, and EU environmental regulations.
Farmers blocked roads with tractors and burned hay, threw fireworks and eggs in the square in front of the building where the EU summit will be held, and security authorities responded with water cannons.
In Europe, similar demonstrations are occurring all over the country.
The European Commission, the EU’s executive branch, has already announced relief measures for farmers.
