Ghost’s drinking bout

昔むかしある所ところに、一軒いっけんの骨董屋こっとうやがありました

Once upon a Time, there was a antique store.

今日きょうはあいにく主人夫婦しゅじんふうふが留守るすで、甥おいの忠兵衛ちゅうべえが留守番るすばんをしていました

Today is unfortunately husband and wife are absence, so nephew named Chubei is shop-sitting.

ふと一人いちにんの客きゃくが入はいってきて、店内てんないのいろいろな掛かけ軸じくを手てに取とりはじめました

A customer came in and started to take various hanging scrolls in the store.

そして、女おんなの幽霊ゆうれいが描えがかれている掛かけ軸じくに目めがとまり、これはいくらか？と、忠兵衛ちゅうべえに尋たずねました

And then, he saw a hanging scroll of a female ghost,and asked how much is this to Chubei.

この掛かけ軸じくは、ただ同然どうぜんで買かってきたガラクタ品ひんでしたので、忠兵衛ちゅうべえは二十文にじゅうぶんという意味いみで二本にほんの指ゆびを見みせました

Since the hanging scroll is just a junk item bought for nothing, Chubei showed two fingers, which means 20mon.

すると客きゃくは「なんと二十両にじゅうりょうか！それは安やすい！」と大喜おおよろこびして、明日あしたに代金だいきんを持もってくるからと手付金てつけきんを払はらって帰かえっていきました

thereupon the customer said [how is this item 20 ryos! It’s very cheap!] with great joy, he will bring the full payment tomorrow, so he pay the deposit and returned.

その夜よる、忠兵衛ちゅうべえは大金たいきんを手てにしてすっかり嬉うれしくなり、幽霊ゆうれいの掛かけ軸じくの前まえで、ひとりで酒盛さかもりを始はじめました

That night, Chubei is very happy about getting whole lots of money, front of the Ghost’s hanging scroll, he started the drinking bout alone.

掛かけ軸じくの中なかの幽霊ゆうれいに「お前まえもちょっと出でてきて酌しゃくでもしてくれや」と声こえをかけると、なんと本当ほんとうに掛かけ軸じくから幽霊ゆうれいが出でてきました

And he said why don’t you come out and drink with me to the hanging scroll of the ghost. And then the ghost really came out from the hanging scroll.

なんとも不思議ふしぎな事ことで、初はじめは怖こわがっていた忠兵衛ちゅうべえも、美人びじんな幽霊ゆうれいのお酌しゃくですっかり酔よい潰つぶれてしまいました

This is so miracle. Chubei was so scared at first,then the beautiful female ghost became all drunk too.

翌朝よくあさ、目めを覚さました忠兵衛ちゅうべえの目めの前まえには、幽霊ゆうれいが寝姿ねすがたになっている掛かけ軸じくがありました

Next morning, Chubei opened his eyes and saw the ghost in the hanging scroll is in sleeping position.

はやく女幽霊おんなゆうれいに起おきてもらって元もとの立たち姿すがたに戻もどってもらわないと、二十両にじゅうりょうがぱぁになってしまうと忠兵衛ちゅうべえは困惑こんわくしました

Chubei was at a loss because if he did’t quickly get the female ghost to wake up and back to her original standing position, his 20 ryos will be gone.
