Sony cuts 900 jobs in game business, closes London studio
ソニーグループ傘下のゲーム事業会社、ソニー・インタラクティブエンタテインメント（SIE）は27日、PlayStation向けゲーム開発を手掛ける世界全地域のスタジオで従業員を約900人削減し、ロンドンのスタジオを完全に閉鎖すると発表した
Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), a game company under the Sony Group, announced on the 27th that it will cut approximately 900 employees at studios around the world that develop games for PlayStation, and will permanently close its London studio.
影響を受けるスタジオには、『Spider-Man』シリーズを開発したインソムニアックゲームズや、『The Last of Us』シリーズを制作したノーティードッグなど、SIE傘下でも大手のゲームスタジオが含まれている
Affected studios include major game studios under SIE, including Insomniac Games, which developed the Spider-Man series, and Naughty Dog, which produced the Last of Us series.
今回の発表を前に、ソニーは「PlayStation 5」の2023年の販売予測を2500万台から2100万台に下方修正していた
Prior to this announcement, Sony had revised down its PlayStation 5 sales forecast for 2023 from 25 million units to 21 million units.

The video game industry is undergoing a series of layoffs.
Prior to SIE, Microsoft announced in January that it would cut 1,900 jobs at Xbox and Activision Blizzard, which it acquired last year.
Riot Games, the company behind League of Legends, also announced more than 500 layoffs in January.
Game software developer Unity Software also recently announced that it will cut more than 1,800 jobs.
