Wide-area robbery Komae incident Image of victim taken from suspect’s smartphone
Among a series of wide-area robberies, an image of the victim was found on the smartphone of a suspect who was arrested for a robbery-murder case that occurred in Komae City, Tokyo, and was said to have given instructions to the perpetrator from an immigration facility in the Philippines. This was revealed through interviews with investigators.

Four executives of a special fraud group, including Masato Imamura (39), Yuki Watanabe (39), and Seiya Fujita (39), gave instructions to the perpetrators from an immigration facility in the Philippines and committed crimes this year. In January, he assaulted and killed Iyo Oshio (90), who lived in a house in Komae City, and stole her luxury watch and other items.On the 12th, he was re-arrested on suspicion of robbery and murder.
The Metropolitan Police Department received information from local authorities about 15 devices used by the suspects, including smartphones, and identified the involvement of four people by restoring deleted messages exchanged with the perpetrators.
According to investigators, images of Oshio lying on the ground in a house at the crime scene and the rental car used in the incident were found on a smartphone believed to have been used by Watanabe.
The same image was also found on the executor’s smartphone, and the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the details of the incident, believing that he was giving instructions while having a detailed understanding of the situation at the scene by having the image sent to him.
