Man believed to be in his 20s dead after being swept away by swollen river in Ibaraki.
According to Ibaraki prefecture officials, a young man, believed to be in his 20’s, was found unresponsive in a river in North Ibaraki City at 10am on the 9th. He was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed to be deceased.
Police had been searching the area after his car had been found near a water-filled patty on the night of the 8th.
According to city officials, the Shioda river near the patty was inundated with heavy rain on the night of the 8th, causing the river to rise, likely sweeping the man away.
