日本にっぽんで初はじめてとなる女子じょし大学生だいがくせいの誕生たんじょうから110周年しゅうねんを記念きねんした式典しきてんが、秋篠宮あきしののみやご夫妻ふさいの次女じじょの佳子けいこさまも出席しゅっせきされて東北とうほく大学だいがくで開ひらかれました

A ceremony commemorating the 110th anniversary of the birth of Japan’s first female university student was held at Tohoku University, with Prince and Princess Akishino’s second daughter Yoshiko in attendance.

110年ねん前まえの1913年ねん、日本にっぽんで初はじめて女性じょせいの入学にゅうがくを許可きょかしたのが今いまの東北とうほく大学だいがくで、30日にち、仙台せんだい市内しないで記念きねんの式典しきてんが開ひらかれました

110 years ago, in 1913, the first university in Japan to admit women was what is now Tohoku University, and a commemorative ceremony was held in Sendai on the 30th.

まず、東北とうほく大学だいがくの大野おおの英男ひでお総長そうちょうが当時とうじは女性じょせいの社会しゃかい進出しんしゅつが難むずかしかった時代じだいで、入学にゅうがく試験しけんの最中さいちゅうには文部省もんぶしょうから女性じょせいの受験じゅけんを認みとめていることを問といただす文書ぶんしょが届とどいたものの、大学だいがく創設そうせつにあたって掲かかげた「門戸もんこ開放かいほう」の理念りねんのもと、当時とうじの総長そうちょうが受け入うけいれを判断はんだんしたことなど3人にんの女性じょせいを初はじめて受け入うけいれたいきさつを説明せつめいしました

First, Hideo Ohno, president of Tohoku University, was at a time when it was difficult for women to advance into society, and during the entrance exam he received a letter from the Ministry of Education questioning whether women were allowed to take the entrance exam. Based on the philosophy of ``open doors,’’ she explained how the university president at the time decided to accept the three women and how they were accepted for the first time.

続つづいて佳子けいこさまが「大学だいがくに進すすむ女性じょせいの割合わりあいが理系りけいの分野ぶんやで低ひくい背景はいけいには社会しゃかいが作り出つくりだす雰囲気ふんいきがあると言いわれています

Princess Kako then said, ``It is said that the reason why the proportion of women going on to university is low in science fields is due to the atmosphere created by society.

偏見へんけんが作り出つくりだす社会しゃかいの雰囲気ふんいきや圧力あつりょくが個人こじんの可能かのう性せいや選択肢せんたくしを制限せいげんしたりすることにもつながっていると感かんじます」と述のべられました

I feel that the social atmosphere and pressure created by prejudice is also leading to limiting the possibilities and choices of individuals.”

そのうえで、大学だいがくが掲かかげてきた多様たよう性せいを尊重そんちょうする取り組とりくみを踏ふまえ「誰だれもが安心あんしんして暮くらせてより広ひろい選択肢せんたくしを持もち、これらが当たり前あたりまえの社会しゃかいになることを心こころから願ねがっております」と述のべられました

佳子けいこさまは今月こんげつ24日にち新型しんがたコロナウイルスに感染かんせんしていることがわかり、滞在たいざい先さきの鳥取とっとり県けんで療養りょうようしていましたが、29日にちに東京とうきょうに戻もどり、30日にちは仙台せんだい市しで式典しきてんに出席しゅっせきしたあと、午後ごごには記念きねん講演こうえんを聴講ちょうこうしたほか大学だいがく院生いんせいと懇談こんだんされました

Princess Kako was diagnosed with the new coronavirus on the 24th of this month and was recuperating in Tottori Prefecture, where she was staying, but returned to Tokyo on the 29th and attended a ceremony in Sendai on the 30th.
