Nobel Prize: Two people who researched new coronavirus vaccine technology
Two people who researched technology used in new coronavirus vaccines have been selected for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
Katalin Carrico and Drew Weissman from the University of Pennsylvania in the United States.
The two conducted research on using genetic material, mRNA, in vaccines.
The problem with mRNA is that it causes inflammation when put into the human body.

The new coronavirus vaccine was created very quickly because the company making the drug used this technology.

Mr. Weissman said, ``There was a time when I couldn’t receive money for research, but I didn’t give up and continued my research, which is why I am where I am today.’’
