It was the 15th in Japan, when a volcano had a large eruption in the Tongan waters of the South Pacific Ocean.
A tsunami about 80 cm high hit Tonga’s coastline.

Australia said they sent military planes to investigate damages in Tonga.
According to New Zealand’s prime minister, volcanic ash accumulated in the Tongan capital of Nuku’alofa.
He also said that because volcanic ash infiltrated into the drinking water, clean water is needed.
