Rats are discovered at Jean Hackman's house and is investigating the risk of disease
American actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were found dead in their New Mexico home in February of this year.
After some research, we found out that Mr. Arakawa died from a disease called Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome.
This disease is transmitted by the hantavirus through mice and mouse droppings.
An inspection of the house in March found mouse droppings and dead mice in eight buildings, including the garage.
Hantavirus is a rare disease, but in New Mexico, it kills 41% of people who get it.
Experts recommend using masks and gloves when cleaning areas where rats live.
