読書どくしょという行為こういは、単たんに書籍しょせきを購入こうにゅうすることから始はじまるものではあるが、その本質ほんしつは、書店しょてんにおいて手てに取とった瞬間しゅんかんに何なにらかの感情かんじょうが動うごかされた場合ばあい、即座そくざに購入こうにゅうするという決断けつだんにあると言いえる

The act of reading a book begins with the simple act of purchasing a book, but its essence lies in the decision to immediately purchase a book if some kind of emotion is stirred up the moment one picks it up at a bookstore.

しばしば「積つん読どく」と呼よばれる、購入後こうにゅうごに未読みどくのまま本ほんを積つみ上あげておく行為こういでさえ、読書体験どくしょたいけんの一部いちぶを成なしているのだ

Even the act of piling up unread books after purchase, often referred to as ``piling up books,'' forms part of the whole reading experience.

しかし、「あとで考かんがえよう」や「明日あしたでも構かまわない」といった逡巡しゅんじゅんが生しょうじた瞬間しゅんかん、その書籍しょせきとの縁えんは切きれてしまうものと考かんがえざるを得えない

However, I can't help but think that the moment I start to think about it later or say, ``I don't care if it comes tomorrow,'' my ties to that book are severed.

そもそも、その場ばで即決そっけつできない理由りゆうの一ひとつとして、購入こうにゅうの失敗しっぱいを恐おそれる心理しんりが挙あげられる

In the first place, one of the reasons why it is not possible to make a quick decision on the spot is the psychological timidity of being afraid of making a purchase and making a mistake.

すなわち、せっかく手てに入いれても、読よんでみて期待外きたいはずれであった場合ばあいの損失そんしつを懸念けねんするのである

In other words, even if you take the trouble to get your hands on a book, you should be concerned about the loss you may incur if you read it and it does not meet your expectations.

しかしながら、読書どくしょにおいて「失敗しっぱい」は避さけるべきものではなく、むしろ経験けいけんすべき過程かていである

However, in reading, ``full failure'' is not something to be avoided, but rather a process that should be experienced.

「つまらない」と感かんじること自体じたい、読書どくしょを通つうじて自みずからの価値観かちかんや判断基準はんだんきじゅんが形成けいせいされている証左しょうさにほかならない

The very fact that you feel ``boring'' is proof that your own values and judgment standards are being formed through reading.

したがって、「つまらない」と判断はんだんできたことを誇ほこるべきであり、失敗しっぱいを恐おそれるよりも、つまらない本ほんを面白おもしろいと錯覚さっかくしてしまうことの方ほうこそ警戒けいかいすべきであろう

Therefore, we should be proud of the fact that we have gradually learned to judge boring books, and rather than be afraid of failures, we should be wary of creating the illusion that boring books are interesting.

また、「せっかく購入こうにゅうしたのだから」と無理むりに最後さいごまで読よみ続つづける必要ひつようはなく、自身じしんの判断はんだんを信しんじて途中とちゅうで読よむのをやめることも重要じゅうようである

Also, there is no need to force yourself to continue reading until the very end, thinking, ``I went to the trouble of purchasing it.'' It is also important to trust your own judgment and stop reading halfway through.

一方で、世の中よのなかには、初はじめはとっつきにくいものの、読よみ進すすめるうちに徐々じょじょにその面白おもしろさが明あきらかになる書籍しょせきも少すくなくない

On the other hand, there are quite a few books in this world that are difficult to get into at first, but as you read them, their interestingness gradually becomes clear.

かつては理解りかいできずに放ほうり出だした本ほんであっても、何なにかの折おりに再ふたたび手てに取とると、かつてとは異ことなる新あたらたな面白おもしろさを発見はっけんすることもある

Even if you once threw a book out without fully understanding it, when you pick it up again for some reason, you may discover something new and interesting that is different from what you had before.

そのような経験けいけんを重かさねることで、読書どくしょの楽たのしみは一層いっそう深ふかまるのである

By accumulating such experiences, the enjoyment of reading becomes even more profound.

実際じっさい、夏目漱石なつめそうせきの『吾輩わがはいは猫ねこである』のように、人生じんせいの各段階かくだんかいで異ことなる味あじわいをもたらしてくれる作品さくひんも存在そんざいし、繰くり返かえし読よむたびに新あたらたな発見はっけんがあるのだ

In fact, there are many works like Natsume Soseki's ``My Home is a Cat,'' which brings out different tastes and pleasures at each stage of human development, and each time I read it again and again, I discover something new.
