One year after Tonga volcanic eruption, pray for those who died
On January 15th of last year, there was a major volcanic eruption in the waters of Tonga in the South Pacific.

More than 1,000 people gathered at a church in the capital, Nuku’alofa, to pray for the dead.
A woman who came to pray said, ”I still cry when I think about the one year ago when I ran away from the tsunami.”
In Tonga, people of Japanese descent work in the agriculture and fisheries industries.
A man producing mozuku seaweed lost his tools in the tsunami and his boat was destroyed.
Only 15 tons of mozuku were exported to Japan last year, less than 10% of what it was before the eruption.
