Ancient burial mound in Nara City Found a splendid bronze mirror and a long iron sword
A bronze mirror and an iron sword were found in the Tomio Maruyama burial mound in Nara.
This burial mound was built in the 4th century as a tomb of an old great man.
It is the largest round-shaped burial mound in Japan.
Nara City has been investigating since October last year
鏡は縦の長さが60cmぐらい、横の長さが30cmぐらいで、盾のような形です
The mirror is about 60 cm long and about 30 cm wide, shaped like a shield.
This is the first time that a mirror of this shape has been found.
There are very fine patterns and lines on the back of the mirror
剣は長さが2m30cmぐらいです
The sword is about 2m30cm long.
It is the longest among the swords of the same period found in East Asia.
専門家は「鏡にはとても高い技術を使っています
Experts say, ”We use very high technology for mirrors.
I think it’s the most wonderful thing made of metal in this era.”
この鏡と剣をいつ見ることができるかまだわかりませんが、古墳は1月28日と29日に見ることができます
