The bomb was left behind during a clash between the military and pro-democracy groups during school closures last month.
According to Myanmar media, a bomb exploded on the premises of a school in Dawei in the south during lunch time on the 4th of this month.
The explosion killed three children between the ages of 7 and 10 and injured 25 others.
The children who died were said to have accidentally stepped on a bomb while weeding the school grounds as instructed by their teacher.
The bomb was left behind when the national army and pro-democracy organizations clashed nearby last month, when schools were closed, and it is believed to have been buried in the ground due to rain and other factors.
The children had just started a new school term on the 3rd of this month, the previous day.
