A Japanese language school in Toyama now has only one student

新型しんがたコロナウイルスが広ひろがって、ほとんどの留学生りゅうがくせいが日本にっぽんに来くることができなくなっています

As the novel coronavirus spread throughout the world, it gradually became more and more difficult for students to study abroad in Japan.

富山県とやまけんにある日本語にほんご学校がっこうでは、入学にゅうがくする予定よていの26人にんが日本にっぽんに来くることができなくて、自分じぶんの国くにで待まっています

At a Japanese language school for such learners in Toyama, there were 26 students originally planned to attend but had to remain in their own countries.

今年ことし4月がつからこの学校がっこうで勉強べんきょうできる留学生りゅうがくせいは1人ひとりだけになることがわかりました

By the time this April comes around, there will only be one student attending.

学校がっこうは、学費がくひの収入しゅうにゅうが足たりないため、国くにが出だしているお金かねを使つかって経営けいえいを続つづけています

Due to the lack of income from students, the government had to make up the difference so they could continue operating.

しかし、このままだと先生せんせいに続つづけてもらうことができなくなると言いっています

Still, at this rate, it won’t be possible to keep all the teachers around.

学校がっこうの人ひとは「来年らいねんには学校がっこうを続つづけることができなくなります

”Our school will not be able to operate into next year.

富山とやまの役やくに立たちたいと思おもっている留学生りゅうがくせいが勉強べんきょうできなくなります」と話はなしています

”Foreign students who want to be of use to Toyama can’t even come to study here,” one faculty member said.
