JAXAの無人探査機「SLIM」が、日本では初めてとなる月面への着陸に成功しました。
JAXA's unmanned spacecraft SLIM has successfully landed on the Moon, the first Japanese landing on the lunar surface.
「まずは着陸できたということから、今後、我が国の技術をさらに発展させていって、月面へのアクセスに対して道が開けた」　
“The fact that we were able to land on the Moon first opens the way for further development of our country's technology and access to the Moon's surface.”
SLIMは日本時間の午前0時20分ごろ、月面への着陸に成功しました。　
SLIM successfully landed on the moon at around 12:20 a.m. Japan time.
日本では初めての快挙で、世界では5カ国目です。　
This is the first time this has been accomplished in Japan and the fifth country in the world. 　
ただ、太陽電池が電力を発生していないということで、今は搭載されているバッテリーで通信をしています。　
However, the solar cells are not generating power, so the communication is now done by the on-board battery. 　
JAXAは今回の着陸に関する評価を「ギリギリ合格点の60点」としていて、目標としていた誤差100メートル以内の着陸についてはデータを解析して判断するとしています。
JAXA has given the landing an evaluation of "just barely a passing score of 60," and says that it will analyze the data to determine the target landing error of within 100 meters.
