After leaving the Gates Foundation, which she founded in 2024 with her former husband Bill Gates, Melinda French Gates shifted her focus to her own charity, Pivotal Philanthropies, which is primarily dedicated to supporting women.

According to newly released tax filings, the truth came to light after she resigned. Bill Gates continued to fulfill his promise to transfer a portion of his assets to his ex-wife for quite some time after their divorce.

In January 2024, Melinda Gates donated $520 million approximately 78.3 billion yen to the Gates Foundation. This was five months before she officially left the foundation in June of the same year.

This is likely to be her last donation to the foundation she established with her ex-husband in 2000.

Also, she may have chosen to make a donation quietly before stepping down from her leadership position at the foundation.

Probably for this reason, Gates has not been able to find recipients for his generous donations like he used to.

On the other hand, the amount Bill Gates donated to this fund in 2024 was only $9.4 billion about 1.48 trillion yen.

This amount is much less compared to the massive donation of $20.1 billion about 3.14 trillion yen he made in 2022.

Gates spokesperson said that although this figure may seem modest, there were unprecedented donations in 2024.

When Pivotal Philanthropies was established, Gates made the first donation to this fund.

In October 2024, it was revealed that Mr. Gates donated $7.9 billion approximately 1.23 trillion yen to Pivotal in the form of publicly traded stocks.

According to the representative of the foundation, it was established in 2022 with the aim of addressing reproductive rights and other health issues, and all of the foundations activities are funded by donations from her ex-husband.

Thanks to her ex-husbands consent, she has received over $3.6 billion about 560 billion yen so far, and as of 2024, the assets of this fund have reached $29.3 billion about 4.57 trillion yen.

Although the two finalized their divorce in 2021, Bill Gates has continued to donate more than $5 billion about 780 billion yen through Pivotal.

According to Forbes, the total amount he has donated so far exceeds $52 billion about 8.11 trillion yen, and it is expected that large-scale donations will continue in order to fulfill his pledge to donate the majority of his assets.
