昔、岡山県の吉備高原という所に、五平という男がいました。

Gohei kept cattle, but he was a cruel man and often treated his cows badly.

One year, there was an extremely hot and humid summer.

Gohei tied the cow up under the blazing sun so it couldnt go drink water.

Once, while Gohei wasnt paying attention, the cow broke its rope and went to drink water.

Gohei got angry, didnt let the cow drink water, and locked it up in the barn.

However, the cow knocked Gohei over and drank a lot of the spilled water.
。
Gohei became even angrier and took the cow outside, but still didnt let it drink water.

On the way, the cow became so exhausted that it couldnt go any further and died.

After that, Gohei felt extremely thirsty.

He went home and drank all the water, but it still wasnt enough.

五平は、ヒバリという鳥に生まれ変わりました。
Gohei was reincarnated as a bird called a skylark.

In summer, a skylark named Gohei gets very thirsty again.

It flew around in the sky looking for water, but couldnt find any.
。
Even now, Goheis skylark is still flying around in search of water.
