韓国のイ・ジェミョン大統領は、23日から2日間の日程で就任後、初めて日本を訪れ、石破総理大臣と会談する予定です。

これまでイ大統領は、日本との経済面などでの協力を重視する考えを繰り返し示していて23日行われる会談でも経済交流など日韓両国の関係発展や核・ミサイル開発を進める北朝鮮への対応、それに日米韓3か国による連携の強化について確認するものとみられます。

韓国大統領府は、石破総理大臣との会談について「両首脳間の個人的な絆と信頼関係がさらに深まることを期待する」としていて、イ大統領は日韓両国の首脳が往来する「シャトル外交」を通じ、石破総理大臣との信頼関係の構築につなげるねらいもあるとみられます。
The South Korean presidential office stated regarding the meeting with Prime Minister Ishiba, We hope that the personal bonds and relationship of trust between the two leaders will deepen further. また韓国メディアによりますと、大統領が首脳会談のため就任後、アメリカよりも先に日本を訪問するのは初めてだということで韓国ではイ大統領が日本との関係を重視しているあらわれだとする見方も出ています。
According to South Korean media, this is the first time since taking office that the president will visit Japan before the United States for a summit meeting. Some in South Korea see this as a sign that President Lee places importance on relations with Japan.
