The G1 race to determine the best three-year-old horse in Japan, the 92nd Japanese Derby, was held at Tokyo Racecourse, and the favorite, Croix du Nord, won.

Masquerade Ball, the third favorite, came from behind to finish second, and Shohei, the sixth favorite, finished third.

Museum Mile, who won the Satsuki Sho, finished 6th.

Jockey Yuichi Kitamura, who rode Crois du Nord, said, I absolutely believed the horse would make a strong run in the stretch, and Im glad that believing led to a first-place finish.

I still feel theres a lot of room for growth, and I hope the name Croix du Nord will become even more widely known, they said.
