Due to the influence of a low-pressure system with a front, some areas in the Tokai region experienced very heavy rain on the morning of the 15th.

There is a risk of localized heavy rain mainly in eastern Japan through late at night on the 15th, and in northern Kyushu, there is a possibility of heavy rain through the 16th. Please be very cautious of landslides, flooding in low-lying areas, and rising river levels.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, due to the effects of a low-pressure system with a front over the Sea of Japan, rain clouds developed over eastern Japan, including the Tokai region, from the night of the 14th to the morning of the 15th. In Kagiana, Shizuoka City, 54 millimeters of very heavy rain fell in one hour until just after 6 a.m.

In the Hokuriku, Tokai, and Kyushu regions, rain clouds have developed locally, and in the one hour up to 10 a.m., a heavy rainfall of 32 millimeters was observed by a rain gauge installed by Kagoshima Prefecture in Kagoshima City.

In eastern Japan, the atmosphere will remain unstable in the afternoon, and on the 15th, there is a chance of localized heavy rain of more than 30 millimeters per hour accompanied by thunderstorms in areas such as Kanto and Koshin.

Additionally, due to the effects of the low-pressure system that used to be Typhoon No. 1, there is a risk of heavy rain in northern Kyushu, with intermittent downpours of more than 30 millimeters per hour expected from the evening of the 15th through the 16th.

The Japan Meteorological Agency is urging people to be on full alert for landslides, flooding in low-lying areas, and rising river levels.

On the other hand, on the 15th, temperatures are expected to rise, and midsummer days with highs above 30°C are forecasted from eastern to western Japan.

This week, temperatures will be high, and from Tuesday onward, some areas are expected to have extremely hot days with temperatures exceeding 35°C. Please be very careful to avoid heatstroke.
