On the evening of the 11th, in an incident where an elderly woman was stabbed in the back and killed on a street in Wakaba Ward, Chiba City, it has been learned from investigative sources that the police are voluntarily questioning a 15-year-old boy who lives nearby on suspicion of being involved in the case.

We have requested an arrest warrant on suspicion of murder, and plan to arrest the suspect as soon as it is issued.

A little after 5 p.m. on the 11th, someone passing by reported to the police that an elderly woman has collapsed on the street in Wakamatsucho, Wakaba Ward, Chiba City.

When the police arrived, they found an elderly woman lying on the road, bleeding. She was taken to the hospital, but was pronounced dead about an hour and a half later.

The deceased woman has been identified as Hachio Takahashi 84, who lived nearby. She had stab wounds on her back, and the police are investigating the case as a murder, believing she was attacked by someone near the scene.

As a result, it was learned from interviews with investigators that a 15-year-old boy living near the scene is being voluntarily questioned on suspicion of involvement in the incident.

We have requested an arrest warrant on suspicion of murder, and plan to arrest the suspect as soon as it is issued.

The site is a residential area about one kilometer east of JR Sobu Main Lines Tsuga Station. The police are continuing to question the boy in detail and are investigating the situation at the time.

A resident: My child was scared and I kept them home from school. A mother in her 30s who lives near the scene and has an elementary school-aged child said, When I came home around 7 p.m. last night, there were police lines set up around the area, and even in the rain, police officers were shining lights on the ground and investigating until about 11 p.m.

The children are scared, and since the school informed us that being absent wont be counted as an absence, we are letting them stay home, they said.
