On the 14th, in the accident where an Air Self-Defense Force training aircraft crashed into a pond in Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture, it was learned from interviews with those involved that there was no emergency communication or emergency escape from the aircraft prior to the crash.

The Self-Defense Forces are continuing to investigate the situation in more detail, while also searching for the two missing personnel.

On the afternoon of the 14th, an Air Self-Defense Force T-4 trainer aircraft crashed into Iruka Lake in Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture.

According to the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, two male crew members—a First Lieutenant and a Second Lieutenant—were on board the aircraft. It took off from Komaki Base in Aichi Prefecture at 3:06 p.m., and about two minutes later, around 3:08 p.m., its flight path disappeared from radar approximately 13 kilometers northeast of the base.

According to multiple sources, there was no communication indicating an emergency or emergency evacuation from the aircraft before the crash.

According to the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, at that time, the plan was to take off northward from Komaki Air Base to head to Nyutabaru Base in Miyazaki Prefecture, then turn east to fly out over the Pacific Ocean. The pre-flight inspection found no abnormalities with the aircraft, and there were no issues with the weather.

On the other hand, at Iruka Pond, parts of the aircraft, helmets, and hats have been found, and the Self-Defense Forces searched for the two people throughout the night, but so far, they have not been found.

The Self-Defense Forces have been conducting aerial searches using helicopters since before 5 a.m. on the 15th, and are also working to gather more detailed information about the situation.
