In response to the tariff measures by the Trump administration in the United States, an intensive deliberation will be held on the 14th at the House of Representatives Budget Committee.

Negotiations are expected to take place this week over Japan-U.S. talks and support measures for domestic industries.

Prime Minister Ishiba and Minister for Economic Revitalization Akazawa, who is in charge of Japan-U.S. negotiations, will attend the intensive deliberations, where leaders from various parties, including Constitutional Democratic Partys Representative Noda and Communist Partys Chairman Tamura, will take the floor for questions.

In this context, it is expected that debates will be held on topics such as the stance towards the Japan-U.S. negotiations starting this week in response to the Trump administrations tariff measures, support measures for domestic industries including funding for small and medium-sized enterprises, and how to maintain the free trade system.

On the other hand, regarding measures against the high prices of groceries and other goods, LDP Secretary-General Moriyama mentioned the necessity of drafting a supplementary budget plan for this fiscal year, considering the calls from both the ruling and opposition parties for action.

Moriyama said, We must address this in the supplementary budget proposal.

We want to do it within a range that does not involve issuing deficit-financing bonds, and since there are slightly brighter prospects for tax revenue, it will be judged comprehensively, he said, indicating his intention to aim for enactment during the current session of the Diet.

The government and the ruling party are expected to steadily execute this fiscal years budget, which was recently passed, while assessing economic trends related to tariff measures and considering the scale and content of a supplementary budget proposal.
