In Tokyo, this is the ninth confirmed case of measles this year, and it is reported that the boy is recovering.
Since the person has a history of traveling to Vietnam, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government believes it is highly likely that the infection was contracted locally.
Since measles spreads through airborne transmission and is extremely contagious, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is publishing information about the flights and trains the boy used on its website.
Especially during long holiday periods, as more people travel abroad, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is urging that if you develop symptoms such as fever or rash that may indicate measles after returning to Japan, you should contact a medical institution in advance before seeking medical attention, and refrain from using public transportation when traveling.
