It has been revealed through interviews with the Tottori Prefecture branch of Jichirō—the All Japan Prefectural and Municipal Workers Union, which is made up of local government employees and others—that there are four undisclosed accounts with a total balance of approximately 200 million yen.

There is also testimony that it was used to fill a gap in the general account, and the prefectural headquarters is investigating the details of the situation.

According to the Tottori Prefecture Headquarters of the All-Japan Prefectural and Municipal Workers Union, there are a total of four accounts that were not disclosed to union members, and they were opened under the names of the head of the prefectural headquarters and others more than ten years ago.

The total balance amounts to approximately 200 million yen, and there are also records of withdrawals made in units of several million yen.

According to the prefectural headquarters regulations, accounts are supposed to be audited and reported at the annual regular convention, but it is said that for the four accounts, neither auditing nor reporting has been conducted.

One of the former executive committee chairpersons testified to NHK that the funds had been used to cover deficits in the general account, but the prefectural headquarters is currently investigating how the money was used and the circumstances surrounding the opening of the account.

As of June last year, more than 8,000 people from 41 unions belonged to the prefectural headquarters, and activities are mainly funded by union dues.

After the executive board was replaced in the autumn of the year before last, the existence of the account came to light. Executive Committee Chairman Toshiki Miura said, An account that has not been disclosed to union members is a problem, and we are truly sorry.
