A young elementary school girl, who is heading to Osaka with her parents and sister to visit her grandparents, said, Were going to the Osaka-Kansai Expo.

I dont really know what kind of exhibits there will be, but I just want to have a good time, they said.

A grade school boy who plans to visit Mie and Aichi with his parents said, This is the first time since January this year that my family will be going on a trip together.

Im looking forward to visiting places like Suzuka Circuit and Nagoya Castle, they said.

Additionally, an elementary school boy who will be visiting his mothers family home in Shizuoka said, Im looking forward to playing card games and riddles with my cousins.

A father in his 30s, who is going to Nagoya with his family, said, My child likes trains, so were going to the maglev museum.

I cant take much time off, so I want to spend my days relaxing, he said.

At Nagoya Station, as well, the station is crowded with people heading to sightseeing spots or their hometowns.

According to JR Central, almost all reserved seats on both the inbound and outbound Tokaido Shinkansen trains were fully booked in the morning, and families and other passengers could be seen on the outbound Shinkansen platform at Nagoya Station.

A woman who said she was going to her family home in Osaka said, Im looking forward to going to the Osaka Expo with three generations—my parents who live in Osaka, myself, and my child.

My six-year-old son also said, Im looking forward to going to the Expo.

A female first-year university student who is going to Kyoto said, Im going to see my childhood friend for the first time in about two years.

It was my first time sightseeing in Kyoto, so I was looking forward to it, they said.

According to JR Central, there are vacant reserved seats on outbound Tokaido Shinkansen trains after the afternoon of the 3rd, and the return rush for trains heading toward Tokyo is expected to peak after the afternoon of the 5th.

Traffic congestion on the outbound lanes of the expressway is expected to peak from the 3rd to the 4th.

According to the Japan Road Traffic Information Center, as of 11:30 a.m., there are traffic jams of 32 kilometers at the head near Isehara Junction on the outbound lanes of the Tomei Expressway in Kanagawa Prefecture; 30 kilometers at the head near Fujioka Junction on the outbound lanes of the Kan-Etsu Expressway in Gunma Prefecture; 27 kilometers at the head near Sagamiko Interchange on the outbound lanes of the Chuo Expressway in Kanagawa Prefecture; and 19 kilometers at the head near Kuki Interchange on the outbound lanes of the Tohoku Expressway in Saitama Prefecture.
