On the 4th, which is Greenery Day, a nature observation event was held at the Fukiage Imperial Gardens in the Imperial Palace, where the Imperial Family resides.
This observation event began in 2007 in accordance with the wishes of the Emperor Emeritus and Empress Emerita to share the rich nature remaining in the Imperial Palace. The observation event held on the morning of the 4th was attended by 32 people between the ages of 17 and 78, who had applied in advance and were selected by lottery.
Nearly 6,000 species of plants and animals, including insects and wild birds, have been identified within the Imperial Palace grounds, and there is also a waterfall in the garden, which was developed as a Japanese garden before the area became a dense forest of large trees.
Participants, while listening to explanations from researchers at the National Museum of Nature and Science, entered areas that are usually off-limits.

We walked around a 3-kilometer course, and in front of a Chinese sweet gum tree about 20 meters tall, we heard that the spiky, sea urchin-like projections on the outside of the roughly 3-centimeter-diameter spherical fruit on the ground were originally part of the flower. Hearing this, we picked up a fruit and felt its texture.
A 21-year-old female university student from Tokyo who participated with her younger sister said, The small orchid flowers were blooming and looked beautiful, and the waterfall was really pretty and soothing.
