A new exhibition honoring Ichiro, the first Japanese player to be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, has begun at the Hall of Fame Museum in New York, USA.

Ichiro, who played for the Mariners and other Major League teams starting in 2001, set many records before retiring in 2019, including the Major League record of 262 hits in a single season. This January, he became the first Japanese player to be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in the United States.

To commemorate this, on the 6th, a new exhibit corner for Ichiro was established at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York, alongside fellow inductees this year, CC Sabathia, who achieved a total of 251 wins, and Billy Wagner, who recorded 422 saves.

The exhibition is designed so that visitors can look back on Ichiros career, including his time in Japan. On display are items such as the uniform he wore in 2000 during his last game with the Orix Buffaloes before moving to Major League Baseball, the ball from the 2007 All-Star Game when he was with the Mariners and became the first player in history to hit an inside-the-park home run while winning the MVP award, and the spikes he wore in 2016 when he recorded his 3,000th hit in the Major Leagues with the Marlins.

On this day, museum staff were working on arranging the exhibits since the morning.

Tom Seaver from the Hall of Fame Museum, who was in charge of the exhibition, said, He has so many stories to tell that it was a difficult task to fit them all into the limited space.

He also said, His success in Japan is essential, and we are doing our best to convey his versatility as much as possible.

A Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held in Cooperstown on July 27th this year, and Ichiro is also scheduled to attend.
