Former U.S. President Biden responded to an interview with the British public broadcaster BBC and criticized President Trump for pressuring Ukraine to make territorial concessions to Russia, saying, Its foolish to think that would make Mr. Putin stop. He expressed the view that even if concessions were made over territorial issues, the invasion of Ukraine would continue.
BBCは5日、バイデン前大統領が退任後初めてとなるインタビューに応じたとし、その内容を7日、伝えました。
The BBC reported on the 7th that former President Biden gave his first interview since leaving office.
このなかでバイデン氏は、ウクライナでの戦闘の終結を目指し、トランプ大統領がウクライナに対して、領土問題でロシアに譲歩するよう迫っていることについて、「現代の宥和政策だ」と述べて、1930年代にヨーロッパでナチス・ドイツの勢力拡大を招くことになった政策になぞらえ、過ちだという認識を示しました。
In this context, Mr. Biden, aiming to end the fighting in Ukraine, commented on President Trump pressuring Ukraine to make territorial concessions to Russia, saying, This is modern appeasement. He likened it to the policy in 1930s Europe that led to the expansion of Nazi Germanys influence, expressing his view that it is a mistake.
