A lot of tiger puffer fish are being caught in Fukushima Prefectural government investigates the reason
Torafugu is a high-class fish that can be caught in western Japan such as Fukuoka and Yamaguchi prefectures.
Until 2018, Fukushima Prefecture never harvested more than 1 ton in a year.
However, it started to increase from 2019, and in 2021 it was 27.8t.

The Fisheries Research Institute in Fukushima Prefecture will conduct trials to grow tiger puffer fish from next month.
We will grow tiger puffer fish in water that is about the same temperature as the sea in Fukushima Prefecture in winter, and investigate how long they can stay healthy.
We also investigate when the tiger puffer, which usually lays eggs around May, will lay eggs.

The exam is scheduled to continue until next summer.
