In the world, may women are killed by their partners and family members.
According to a report by the United Nations, last year, there was approximately 50,000 women in the world, killed by their partners and family members.
This is, in one year, approximately 60% of murdered women and young girls.
Per day, thats amounts to 137 women whose lives were forcefully taken by their partners and family every day.
On the other hand, the ratio of men who are killed by their partners and family members, is far less than women's, around 10% less.
The country with the largest incident rate is Africa, with it being every 3 in 10 women who are killed in this way.
The next largest is the continent of America, followed by Osenia, Asia and Europe respectively.
The representative of the UN stated "When it comes to many women and girls, the home is not a safe place but rather a place in which their lives are in danger."
And as such "The counter measures to prevent this issue should be responded to with laws" she strongly said.
