Taiwan wants to eliminate restrictions on importing small amounts of food to Japan
Taiwan's government has announced that it will eliminate all restrictions on the import of food products into Japan, which were created after the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident.
Until now, Taiwan Taiwan has been requesting Japan to issue a certificate of production area for all food products in Japan, as well as an inspection report for radioactive substances for food products in five prefectures: Fukushima Fukushima, Ibaraki Ibaraki, Tochigi Tochigi, Gunma Gunma, and Chiba Chiba.
But from now on, there is no need for that.
In 2011, after the Senjuuichi-nen accident, Taiwan Taiwan inspected more than 270,000 food products in Japan, but all of them were found to be safe.
The government believes the risk is very small.
In September, we announced plans to eliminate restrictions, and over the course of two months we listened to everyone's opinions, but there was no major opposition.
This announcement was made immediately after China's government stopped the import of just a few seafood products to Japan, so the difference in how Taiwan's and China's governments responded was noticeable.
