”Queen Elizabeth Engineering Award” awarded to Japan’s Masato Sagawa

The British government awards the ``Queen Elizabeth Engineering Award’’ to people who have created new technologies that are useful to people around the world.
On the 12th, there was a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London, and the five people selected for the award last year and this year attended.
Japan’s Masato Sagawa also attended and received a trophy from King Charles.
Mr. Sagawa created a neodymium magnet, which is said to be the strongest permanent magnet.
The reason for the award is that we were able to use this magnet to create a small, high-performance motor that uses less energy.
Mr. Sagawa said, ``I want to improve neodymium magnets and make them into magnets that can be used in electric car motors.’’
