Approximately 300 people attended the memorial service, including Prime Minister Kishida, Minister of Defense Kihara, and bereaved families.
Minister Kihara then delivered a list of 26 people who died in the line of duty, including 10 members who died in a Ground Self-Defense Force helicopter accident that occurred off the coast of Miyakojima in Okinawa Prefecture in April this year.

Prime Minister Kishida said, ``The soldiers who died in the line of duty are the pride of our country, as they devoted their hearts and souls to carrying out their duties in the most severe and complex security environment in the post-war era.’’
”We will resolutely protect the lives and livelihoods of our people without wasting their precious sacrifices, and we will do our best to contribute to the peace and stability of the region and the world,” he said in his condolence speech.
また木原大臣は「任務の完遂に務め志半ばにしてその職に殉じられた事実を決して忘れることがあってはならない
Minister Kihara also said, ``We must never forget the fact that he sacrificed himself in the line of duty, half-heartedly trying to complete his mission.’’

Afterwards, the bereaved families placed flowers at the memorial monument to comfort the spirits of the soldiers who died in the line of duty.
