Slovakia’s prime minister shot, 71-year-old man detained in ’risk for life’

The prime minister of the Eastern European country Slovakia was shot and taken to the hospital.

On the 15th in Handlova in central Slovakia, Prime Minister Fizzo (59) was shot in the abdomen and other areas while interacting with citizens after a government meeting.
Prime Minister Fizzo was taken to the hospital by helicopter and is receiving treatment, but the Slovak government announced that his life is in danger.
A 71-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and ``the initial investigation revealed a political motive.’’
Slovakia is a member of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), but Prime Minister Fizzo is said to be pro-Russian.
In last year’s general election, he came to power by calling for the suspension of military aid to Ukraine, and became Prime Minister.
