2011年ねん3月がつ、東日本大震災ひがしにほんだいしんさいの津波つなみでアメリカ人じんのテイラー・アンダーソンさんが亡なくなりました

In March 2011, American Taylor Anderson died in the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

テイラーさんは宮城県みやぎけん石巻市いしのまきしの学校がっこうで子こどもたちに英語えいごを教おしえていました

Taylor was teaching English to children at a school in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture.

アメリカにある日本大使館にっぽんたいしかんは29日にち、テイラーさんが卒業そつぎょうしたランドルフ・メーコン大学だいがくに、桜さくらの花はなの形かたちをした作品さくひんを贈おくりました

On the 29th, the Japanese Embassy in the United States presented a cherry blossom-shaped work to Randolph Macon University, where Taylor graduated.

この作品さくひんは、震災しんさいのあと支援しえんをしてくれたアメリカの人ひとたちへのお礼れいに作つくられました

This work was made in gratitude to the American people who supported us after the earthquake.

この大学だいがくでは、たくさんの学生がくせいが日本語にほんごを勉強べんきょうしています

Many students are studying Japanese at this university

作品さくひんを贈おくる式しきでは、学生がくせいが日本語にほんごで「日本にっぽんとアメリカの役やくに立たつことができるように、日本語にほんごの勉強べんきょうを頑張がんばります」とあいさつをしました

At the ceremony to present the work, the students greeted in Japanese, ”I will do my best to study Japanese so that I can be useful to Japan and the United States.”
