About 200 countries agreed at a UN meeting on a draft legally binding treaty to protect marine life in the high seas.
The high seas, which cover about half of the earth’s surface, have been virtually lawless until now.
条約案は米ニューヨークの国連本部で２週間の協議を経て、４日夕に調印されました
The draft treaty was signed on the evening of the 4th after two weeks of consultations at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Drafting was a 20-year process.
