Cocaine seizure worth approximately 440 billion yen, largest in Germany

German prosecutors have announced that they have seized cocaine worth approximately 440 billion yen in Japanese yen.
This is said to be the largest seizure in Germany.
On the 17th, German prosecutors announced that they had seized approximately 35.5 tons of cocaine during an investigation that began in May last year.
The majority of this was seized at the port of Hamburg in northern Germany and smuggled hidden in vegetables and fruits exported from South America.
The amount of cocaine seized was approximately 2.6 billion euros, equivalent to 440 billion yen in Japanese yen, making it the largest cocaine seizure ever in Germany.
The cocaine was disposed of at a garbage disposal site.
Law enforcement officials praised the investigation that led to the discovery of a large amount of cocaine, calling it ”a precise punch to the jaw of a drug lord.”
