"Tomo's Diary" Autumnal Equinox Day
Today I went to my neighbor's house
My neighbors had an old woman, a mother, and a little boy
We sat in a tatami room
We all made ohagi (rice balls)
I formed rice into balls and covered them in bean paste, sesame seeds, and soybean flour
The ohagi smelled wonderful
They were sweet and delicious
We also drank tea
Grandmother said, "Tomorrow is the autumnal equinox
Tomorrow we will offer ohagi
"
I felt warm inside
