Hayao Miyazaki wins Asia’s Nobel Prize for ``tackling complex problems using art’’

　「アジアのノーベル賞しょう」と言いわれるマグサイサイ賞しょうの今年ことしの受賞者じゅしょうしゃに、映画監督えいがかんとくの宮崎駿みやざきはやおさんが選えらばれました

Film director Hayao Miyazaki has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Magsaysay Award, known as the ”Nobel Prize of Asia.”

　マグサイサイ賞しょうは、フィリピンの財団ざいだんによって毎年まいとし、アジアで社会しゃかいに大おおきく貢献こうけんした個人こじんや団体だんたいに贈おくられるもので、「アジアのノーベル賞しょう」として知しられています

The Magsaysay Prize is given annually by a foundation in the Philippines to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to society in Asia, and is known as the ”Nobel Prize of Asia”.

　財団ざいだんは31日にち、今年ことしの受賞者じゅしょうしゃに日本にっぽんから宮崎駿監督みやざきしゅんかんとくを選えらんだことを発表はっぴょうしました

On the 31st, the Foundation announced that it has selected Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki as this year’s recipient of the award.

　財団ざいだんは宮崎監督みやざきかんとくを「環境保護かんきょうほごや平和へいわの提唱ていしょう、女性じょせいの権利保護けんりほごなどの複雑ふくざつな問題もんだいに、子こどもにも理解出来りかいできるよう芸術げいじゅつを駆使くしして取とり組くんだ」などと評価ひょうかしています

The foundation praised director Miyazaki, saying, ``He used art to tackle complex issues such as environmental protection, advocacy for peace, and protection of women’s rights in a way that even children could understand.’’

　そのうえで、「アニメーションを通とおし、人間にんげんの在あり方かたを照てらし出だすことに生涯しょうがいをかけてきた才能さいのうある模範的もはんてきな芸術家げいじゅつかを称しょうえる」としました

On top of that, they said, ``We honor talented and exemplary artists who have dedicated their lives to illuminating the human condition through animation.’’

　授賞式じゅしょうしきは、11月がつに予定よていされています
