Katsushika Hokusai’s print, about 360 million yen, the most expensive ever
A print titled ”The Great Wave off Kanagawa” from ”Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji” by Katsushika Hokusai, an ukiyo-e painter of the Edo period, was put up for auction in New York on the 21st.
The print fetched $2.76 million at auction, about 360 million yen in Japanese money
According to the auction company, the print was popular because it was printed early.
And since it was stored in good condition, the price was much higher than expected.
